DESCRIPTION:Ghost Towns and Grain Elevators of Southern Saskatchewan\n \nKimberly Wand is a longtime teacher with the Simcoe County Board of Education. She enjoys integrating her interests in Canadian history and nature into her photography. The presentation “Ghost Towns and Grain Elevators of Southern Saskatchewan” is a product of a traveling adventure south of the Trans Canada Highway 1. She explores the sparsely populated land south of Regina\, including the Red Coat Trail and delves into what remains of these once booming communities on the Saskatchewan prairie. While photography can convey the expansive sky and the haunting beauty of a disappearing cultural landscape\, so too can it cause us to reflect on the struggles\, resilience and perseverance of the people who came to make a better life in the bread basket of Canada. \n\nEveryone is invited to join us Wednesday April 9th in the multi-purpose room of the Orillia Rec Centre.
