The Evolution of a Nature Photographer

by

David J. Hawke

Our next meeting will be Wednesday, May 9 at the Rotary Place upstairs meeting room – 7:30 P.M.  This month we are going to change it up a bit (a lot) with a special guest speaker.

As usual, we will start the evening with John’s now famous video of photographer’s choice images but then…

Anybody that has lived in Orillia or the surrounding area for more than 3 days should know of David Hawke.  David is a well-known local nature photographer, his images appearing regularly in magazines, newspapers and published books. He has also presented his work in many juried art shows across Ontario. During this presentation David will “walk us through time” as he recounts his background in learning the craft and then art of photography. Starting with a Brownie Hawkeye in the 1960’s and currently using a 22 meg digital SLR, there have been many steps along the path, both in shooting images and in learning how best to present them. A ‘graduate’ of the Orillia and District Camera Club, David will give us a unique evening to learn the evolution of a nature photographer.

This presentation by David is included with your club membership but even if you are not a full paid up member of the club, bring your $5 for this one special evening, sit back and enjoy a great speaker.  If you know of someone that is interested in nature or photography, invite them along as well because they will not be disappointed.

After our traditional break, we will review images from the monthly challenge before heading home with smiles on our faces.
