In intentional camera movement (ICM), a camera is moved during the exposure for a creative or artistic effect. This causes the image points to move across the recording medium, producing an apparent streaking in the resulting image.

This is an exercise in artistic expression, the choice of the subject, type of ICM and light are combined to produce a personal interpretation of the subject or scene. This is NOT long exposure photography. The difference being that long exposures photographs are made by keeping the camera still while allowing the light and subject to introduce any desired motion in the final image.
